Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Ulaanbaatar

You will be greeted by a professional Juulchin World Tours Team at the “Chinggis Khaan” international airport and transfer to the one of the best quality hotels in downtown Ulaanbaatar. After relaxing from your flight, we start our first day exploring Ulaanbaatar, the nation’s capital. Sukhbaatar square is a public square at the heart of the capital. Our next stop is Zaisan Hill. This hill provides a panoramic view of Ulaanbaatar. We will visit the National History Museum which is well-known for its precious exhibition from prehistoric times till present days. Day 2Ulgii - Tsagaan salaa

Fly to the city of Ulgii in the Western most province of Mongolia. Here, Kazakh people follow their own culture and speak thier own language. At the local airport you will be met by your driver and an English speaking guide. /Same day we’ll drive to Tsagaan Salaa late camping. Over night: Camping.

Day 3 Tsagaan Salaa – Shiveet Khairhan Petroglyph - Tavan Bogd base camp

Tsagaan Salaa Gol valley is a common place for the nomadic peoples to make camp in the summer time. This is where the Tuvan people live, practicing their Shaman religion. The landscape around the Shiveet Uul Mountain is stunningly beautiful blue lakes, 4000 m snow-capped mountains, glacier and rich for archaeological sites. Hike to the Tavan Bogd Base Camp for approximately five hours. The landscape around the base is breathtaking, accentuated by Mongolia’s longest glaciers and snow-capped mountains.

Days 4Tavan Bogd base camp - Tsagaan Salaa

After breakfast return to Tsagaan Salaa. Same day we will drive back to Ulgii.

Day 5"Golden Eagle" event

Event location: Near Sagsai Village Today we’ll attend the Golden Eagle Event! Festivities begin with the hunter’s parade displaying their hunting outfits, accessories and traditional dress. The event includes competitions and presentations demonstrating the special relationship between the trainer and his bird of prey. You will be able to experience a number of these Kazakh traditions first-hand by joining the hunters to watch them pamper their birds and cheer for them during the competitions. (Overnight in hotel) Event program: Competition of how eagles adapted to hunters “Shyrga Tartu” (eagles will be qualified how fast and smoothly catch a lure that made of rabbit or fox skin) “Tenge Ily” competition – (traditional coin grabbing game while riding a horse) “Jambi atu” competition – (shooting at a target while riding a horse) Competition of the best Kazakh costume of couples “Kyz Khuar” game show – (traditional horseback riding fun game for youth, boys whipped by girls if they reached by them) “Kukhbar” competition – (traditional horseback riding game fight over for goat skin)

Day 6Home stay

Drive to Eagle Hunter’s Family, Those days we will spend the day with a Kazakh family, We’ll get up same time with nomadic people, experience the milking cows. There will be plenty to see and do. Riding with Kazakh herdsmen if you want, watch how they take care of their animals and help them with processing diary products and sample their traditional food. Explore the real way of living of regular nomadic family. To personally experience their friendliness and hospitality. The Eagle hunters will show us their training methods and you will be introduced to the art of eagle hunting and can talk with the hunters ( Trough an interpreter) about how he trains and hunts with his eagle. The tradition of hunting with Eagles goes back thousands of years in central Asia. You will also see how Kazakh embroidery is made. If you want you can take a few hours of embroidery lessons. Kazakh women are celebrated for colorful their needlework used to decorate the inside of their Gers and house. Over night: Camping

Day 7Sagsai – Khoton, Khurgan Lakes

Today we’ll drive to Khoton and Khurgan lakes. The lakes are the second largest and clearest of all lakes in the Mongolia, the average depth is 26 m, the maximum depth is approximately 58 m, and Khoton Lake has one Iceland which is covered by woods, the system of Khoton Lake and Khurgan lakes connected by wide channel. The landscape around the lakes is very beautiful and picturesque surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Khoton and Khurgan lakes are home to the Grayling (Thymallusarcticus) and the Lenok (Brachymystaxlenok). Over night:Camping

Day 8Kurgan Lake – Khoton Lake – Dayan Lake

We will drive to Dayan Lake stopping for lunch on the way we will visit the ancient Stone Men and Balbal stones, 6th to 8th century Turkish burial markers. The landscape around the lakes is picturesque and consists of forests, rivers and it is surrounded by mountains. The lake is also the home to a great number and variety of migratory birds including many kinds of ducks, swans, geese, seagulls, and cranes. 90km (Overnight in tent) Over night: Camping

Day 9Ulgii

Drive back to Ulgii, do some more sightseeing on the way and we’ll reach the Ulgii before our lunch. After lunch we’ll visit the local open market, museum and shop for local art and handicrafts. Over night: Hotel

Day 10Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast, we will fly back to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival will tour the Zanabazar Museum of Fine Arts. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 11Departure from Ulaanbaatar
