Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

We are introduced to Mongolian history and culture at the beautiful National History Museum and cross the adjoining Sukhbaatar Main Square, where the Parliament is held. . (Or fly to Khovd or Olguy depending on flight changes.) Tonight we have dinner and spend the night at the hotel.

Day 2Fly to Bayan Ulgii and drive to Lake Dayan

Fly to Ulgii, the capital of the Bayan-Ulgii province. The flight takes 3 and a half hours, and on arrival at the airstrip in the Ulgii. Visit Kazakh Eagle hunter’s family and feel their grade hospitalities. Meet Kazakh Eagle hunter and see his magnificent bird. See how Kazakh women are making felt and other handy crafts. Soft hiking around. Overnight Kazakh Ger.

Day 3Drive to lake Hoton and Hurgan

Early morning hiking around lake Dayan. After lunch, drive nearby western side of Hurgan Nuur and Hoton Nuur, where many Nomadic Kazakh families spend summer. Along the lakes, we see the beautiful waterfall, rock paintings and some ancient Turkic stones with face. On the right side we see the snowcapped mountains with forest, which make the wall between China and Mongolia. Overnight in tent on Snake valley where you have a chance to see numerous Turkic stones with face. Overnight in tent.

Day 4Drive to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park

Today we will have full day drive to Altai Tavanbogd National Park (means The Holy Five) via Tsagaan Gol (White river) valley and through Altai Mountains that are Mongolia’s largest and highest mountain range more than 3000-4000 meters high. One famous spot is “Shiveet Hairhan” Sacred Mountain, where we will see the largest rock painting site from the period of the Huns (approx 200 B.C.) Overnight in tent

Day 5Altai Tavan Bogd horse trek and Potanian Glacier

Today we will ride horse (11km – you can hike also) to Altai Tavanbogd referring to the peaks of Huiten – 4374m and the highest. It is a stunning setting with the awe inspiring massif of high snow capped peaks. We will reach the 20km long Potanina glacier, which is ice river starts from Altai Tavan Bogd Snow Peaks. Back to base camp and overnight in tent.

Day 6Drive back to Ulgii

After early breakfast, drive via Ulaanhus over desert mountain landscapes, with the snow-capped Sogoog Mountain as a powerful backdrop and the Altai Mountain range ahead of us. Enjoy photographing the charming landscape. After 5-6 hours, arrive back to Ulgii town. Overnight in tourist camp.

Day 7Fly back to Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast, you will be driven back to internal airport, Ulgii return flight to Ulaanbaatar.
